Robyn Amos has been a book-a-day romance novel addict ever since she was a teenager. After graduating from college with a degree in Psychology, she decided to throw caution to the wind and become a starving artist. The first book she wrote was published by the industry's first multicultural romance line, Arabesque, in 1997. Robyn has also written for Silhouette Books and HarperCollin's Harper Torch line.Over the years , she's held down a variety of day jobs from doing food demonstrations at Costco to editing a newsletter for an association of golf and country clubs. After marrying her real-life romantic hero, a genuine rocket scientist, she was finally able to live her dream of writing full-time.
Now between writing for Harlequin's Kimani Press line, she loves to sing karaoke off-key, play Texas-Hold ‘Em and has a secret addiction to video games. She has a new baby boy and is enjoying every day of motherhood!
Q: When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
I decided to become a writer when I graduated from college. I was preparing to apply to graduate schools for psychology, when I spontaneously decided that I’d much rather try writing books for a living.
Q: Who has influenced your writing the most?
Jayne Ann Krentz has always been one of my favorite authors. I love how she manages to combine suspense with sexy romance. In my first few novels I combined romance and suspense. Now I like to alternate between humor and suspense as subgenres for my romances. I’m most happy when I can combine all three genres together.
Q: How many books have you written so far?
So far I’ve written 13 books, below are a sampling:

PROMISE ME, Harlequin Arabesque, Reissued March 2007. An aerobics instructor meets a computer consultant when her client drops a free-weight on his foot. Despite their rocky start, they become partners on a fitness CD, but romance and corporate sabotage keep things from staying strictly business.
PRIVATE LIES, Harlequin Arabesque, Reissued February 2007. P.I., Jaunie first met Trent years ago when his fiancé hired her to test his fidelity, and although he passed that deception tainted his views on love. They meet again when he opens a contracting firm across the hall from her PI business. Trent cannot avoid her when finds he has a need for her investigative services.
I DO! Novella, Pinnacle Arabesque, February 1998. In After Midnight, struggling artist Tracy Fields fakes being engaged to childhood friend John so they can use the contest's cash prize to pursue their careers. But John has plans of his own--to turn reckless fantasy into passionate reality.

TRUE BLUE, BET Arabesque, February 1999. When her sister announces that they've won the lottery, Toni is happy to leave her disastrous love life behind and head for the Florida coast and a brand new life. But swearing off romance isn't going to be easy, not when charming night club owner Blue Cooper is ready to sweep her off her feet. Especially when a face from Toni's past surfaces with a dangerous demand, and she has to turn to Blue for help.
HERO AT LARGE, Silhouette Intimate Moments, November 2000. Keshon Gray had never regretted anything he'd had to do in the line of duty—until now. For entering the dangerous world of gang warfare led to a tempestuous reunion with Rennie Williams. Although he had to keep his identity secret, he just couldn't stay away from the virtuous beauty who reawakened his heart. But would their love survive a shocking turn of events that promised to change their lives...forever?
BRING ME A DREAM, Harper Torch, November 2001. Bodyguard Jasmine White knows she’s good at her job, but her new client Spencer Powell, the late-night radio jock who calls himself ‘the Sandman” is determined to make her job difficult. But someone's threatening the Sandman—and if Jasmine messes up this high-profile assignment, he’ll tell everyone about it.
WEDDING BELL BLUES, Harper Torch, May 2004. New in town, Moni Lawrence makes more of a splash than she intended in San Diego, when she’s so distracted by the sight of a naked man she drives her car though his fence and into his swimming pool. It’s understandable, since Grant Forrest is so fine he’d turn any woman’s head. And when it’s been decided (in court!) that Moni has to personally repair the damage, she realizes it’s going to be a very long summer.
SEX AND THE SINGLE BRADDOCK, Kimani Press, September 2008. As Senator Braddock's only daughter, Shondra is determined to discover the connection between Stewart Industries and her father's death. She accepts a job working for Connor Stewart, the company's blue-eyed, blond-haired president, But before long her undercover mission explodes into a secret, jet-setting affair that spans the globe.
COSMIC RENDEZVOUS, Kimani Press, April 2009. For Shelly London, relocating to Houston for a top-secret space project was great until she collided with hotshot astronaut Lincoln Ripley. Getting lost in space with the gorgeous wannabe astronaut could be the best thing that ever happened to Lincoln, but first he has to find out who's trying to sabotage their spacecraft.
Q: What do you enjoy most about writing?
My favorite stage of writing is plotting. Coming up with ideas for a novel is the fun part. I have a computer file full of ideas that I hope to write one day. But I may never get to that file because I keep finding new ideas to replace them.
Q: What will your next book be about?
I’m a big a fan of the Food Network Challenges, so my next book is about a competition between chefs on the Gourmet TV network. The hero and the heroine will struggle with what is most important, winning a competition or true love. The story catches up with a character from my first novel PROMISE ME that many readers have asked about. This will be Veronica Howard’s story.
Q: If you couldn’t be a writer, what else would you do?
If I didn’t write novels I’d probably find a way to play video games for a living like my sister-in-law who works for Sony. If my constant begging for her to get me a job comes through, who knows what could happen.
