Jasmine Aherne has been making up stories since she can remember. She delights in creating everyday heroes and heroines and exploring their challenges in life and love. She has a BA in Creative Writing from Chichester University and is currently studying for an MA in Novel and Poetry Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Jasmine lives in Cardiff with her partner Alex, a python called Fish, and mountains of books. When she isn't writing she likes baking cakes, salsa dancing, reading, buying hats, and eating too much Chinese food.
I was paired with her to write book review blog entries and I found her to be engaging, warm and extremely gifted. Here is what she'd like to share with you.
Q: Describe the genre in which you do most of your writing.
Contemporary romance – heat level sensual to very sensual. I’ve dabbled in the paranormal and historical, but contemporary is what I love – showing how falling in love can transform out often busy and mundane everyday lives!
Q: Who has influenced your writing the most?
My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Robin T Popp, James Patterson, J.D Robb, and Kathy Love. I’d say they’ve all had a hand in it somewhere!

Q: How many books have you written so far?
Stranded – Pink Petal Books, released May 7th.
When a holiday to New York goes awry, Londoner Rachel turns to a handsome stranger for help, and stumbles into unexpected love.
Between the Lines – Wild Horse Press, released June 23rd.
Scarred writer Aaron Cooper loves globe-hopping because it means he can avoid commitment. But when he finds his muse in New York, can he finally hang his hat up for good?
Uprooted – Pink Petal Books, to be released November 1st.
Landscape Gardener Mari Dawson will need all her nurturing skills when she falls for a single father who needs parenthood pointers.
Q: Do you write every day? How much time do you spend on your writing?
I try to write every day, in my lunch hour at work and for an hour or so in the evenings. At weekends I’ll often write for three or four hours.
Q: What will your next book be about?
I’m working on a contemporary about a woman who’s dumped by her fiancĂ© on Valentine’s Day. She ends up being commiserated by a handsome stranger she meets in a bar. They have a wonderful night, but nine months later the stranger will get the biggest surprise of his life… I haven’t got a title yet. I also just finished a free, short & steamy read called Magic at Midnight which will be released later this month (June) by Pink Petal Books.
Q: If you couldn’t be a writer, what else would you do?
I love Dinosaurs, so I like to think I might have been an archaeologist. I also wanted to be a vet, but I have a terrible fur allergy, so I guess that’s out the window!
