The Tragedy in Japan

It's been four days since the devastating earthquake and tsunami shattered the peace of Northeast Japan. Thousands are feared dead with thousands injured and homeless. Adding to the mayhem is the ever present threat of a nuclear meltdown. Sounds like the plot of any current blockbuster novel but it is all too real! As events unfold minute by minute, all is seems we can do is stand by and watch. But that is not all you can do. They need our prayers, sent up quickly and in abundance and they need our help--You can be the change you want to see in the world. Reach out and help!

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan early Friday morning approximately 250 miles northeast of Tokyo, sparking a tsunami that caused major destruction in northern Japan. According to news reports, the death and injury tolls could exceed 10,000. The area remains on alert due to powerful aftershocks, which may last for days.

Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded on March 11. The magnitude-9.0 quake spawned a deadly tsunami that slammed into the nation's east coast, leaving a huge swath of devastation in its wake. Thousands of people are dead and many more are still missing or injured.

Japan has often donated when other countries have experienced disasters, such as when Hurricane Katrina impacted the United States. Below are organizations that are working on relief and recovery in the region.
