Meet Sammie Ward, Author & CEO of LLP

Sammie Ward is an Author/Writer/and Publisher born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and now living in Maryland. She began writing confessions and short stories on the advice of a friend after receiving numerous rejection letters for her first novel, In The Name of Love. Her first short story was sold to Black Romance in November 2000. Since then she has written and published over fifty confessions and short stories.

She has also written confession short stories for Black Confessions, Black Secrets, Bronze Thrills, Jive, True Black Experience, and True Confessions magazines. She is the author of numerous novels like, In The Name Of Love, Love To Behold, 7 Days, and her latest Lace & Honor (A Military Romance). She is also the author of many published short stories including, A Line In The Sand (e-book), Sweet Island Temptation (e-book), When Love Comes Around (e-book), Second Chance At Love (e-book)and What Are Girlfriends For? (e-book)

Also a contributing health writer, her health articles have appeared on DOENetwork, W3 Lifestyles and Health Net. They have also been featured in Amag/Awareness, Family Digest, and Jive magazines.

Frustrated with traditional mainstream publishers she formed Lady Leo Publishing in September 2004. LLP an independent electronic publishing company specializing in publishing Confessions, Short Stories, and Novellas. In June (2005) she was voted BEST NEW DRAMA & FICTION OF THE YEAR for her debut novel, ‘IN THE NAME OF LOVE’ by the DLNA (Disilgold Literary National Association). In (2006) she earned a YOUnity Guild Award for: New Romance Author of the Year. That same year she earned an Editor’s Choice Award from the YOUnity Book Club for the novel; ‘ It’s In The Rhythm’(which will be reprinted by Genesis Press on 2 June 2009). She was also recognized as a Literary Diva in Heather Covington best selling novel: Literary Diva: The Top 100+ African- American Women in Literature. In 2007 the novel was nominated for a NAACP Image Award. That same year, YOUnity Guild of America: presented her an award for: Most Outstanding Female Self Publisher for her novel ‘7 Days.’
