Wow, that sounds like the title of a really bad school term paper! As usual, when time comes to post my weekly blog, I sit here staring a blank page, my mind as empty as the screen. I think of what my friend author/artist Rae Lori said when I asked her what she decides to blog about.
"Simple. Anything you feel strongly about. You know, passionate."
That thought rolls around like tumbleweed in the desert and still I'm looking at a mostly blank screen. What inspires me, moves me? Well, lots of things--my family and friends, my faith, writing, children. But what am I passionate about? Surely not anything I could write here and not make my mother blush. So, it's back to the original question--what do I blog about?
Blogging. Why do people blog? When did the forum become so popular? It seems like overnight, every celebrity, writer, artist and Joe Schmoe popped up with their own blogs, spread all over the net. Some are artful and witty, while others drone on. Millions of people record their thoughts, their actions and their dreams (as I have done right here) to share freely with the world. The funny thing is millions more people sit and read them. As if the drama in their lives is not enough, they search the web for more. They take time to comment and leave thoughts about these various soliloquies. Blogs are discussed, dissected and pondered. It's no wonder I feel pressure to come up with something brilliant and noteworthy everytime I log on. (I'm wiping the sweat from my brow as I type!) Will mine be compared to the thoughtful, insightful musings by the previous blogger you just read? Oh, the anxiety!
For me, blogging is a way to connect. Connect to others out there who may feel the way I do about certain subjects or events. Connect to those who may not feel the same way I do and learn more about the other side. Connect to people I may've never had the opportunity to meet. In the end, all I can guarantee is that my blogging always comes straight from the hip. I'm a woman who's been lucky enough to experience some extraordinary things during my 40 years of life, both good and bad. I'm also someone known to have an opinion or two---about everything. As time goes on and you learn more about me, feel free to ask any questions in response. I've never been one to hold back and I won't start now. Any rants or raves you read are strictly MY opinions and thoughts and I will willingly discuss anything you find agrevous. I happen to be one of those people mentioned above who follow certain blogs regulary and I'm happy to share my own with the world.

Wow! Looks like I'm not too late for the contest. First I wanted to comment on something you wrote:

I feel the same way. I've gotten more into blogging over the past few months and really enjoy it. No one ever reads my blogs, but I continue to do it because I just feel such a strong need to express something. Writing is a form of expression I've loved all my life, so blogging is such a freeing experience for me. I only wish I could generate more dialogue to my blogs.
